Progress: Exterior Painting, Take 1

This isn’t going to be a long post because pictures are worth a thousand words (maybe more in this case). When I moved into the house I created a mock-up of what I wanted the exterior to look like. I am well on my way to meeting that goal, but the weather has beaten me down. I was able to clean the siding and also hand-scrubbed the moss and mildew off of the aluminum porch roof. The photos seem to show how worn and dirty they were, but trust me… nothing compared to seeing it in person.

img_20161102_185313I decided to take advantage of the last bit of reasonably warm weather and remaining sunlight to complete these projects. Unfortunately, that still meant having to paint in low 50°F weather mostly through the assistance of a pole mounted construction flood light. My mother so graciously volunteered to paint the garage door while I was working on cabinet making for the basement modifications. Thanks mom! Take a look at the photos and enjoy years of grime being scoured away without a trace. Too bad this was done by hand or it might have been worthy of /r/powerwashingporn. (I promise, safe for work and worth the click) There are still plenty of sidewalks and a driveway for that fame. That will be a much later project, though.
